Each test site will likely place a few different test types as well as introducing different malwares which will play a role in the overall end results. For that you would creating a different test environment in each case while some will still come ahead depending on how they are written.

The product results only show Comodo Internet Security Premium at the top of the list of 12 with all others not recommended at all. You'll also notce that there are several other programs listed under products but only so many picked out and apparently a stressed bias at only one program alone! That tells me someone is motivated to promote only that one alone and this wasn't a totally objective testing and comparison.

The one and only thing they got right was what was put at the bottom of the list!
Yeah NH which points out what I was alluding to when I stated that there were such difference in the sites that do such testing. I wasn't trying to promote anything it was just a good example I thought of the way that results can be vastly different. Me I am cynical enough not to believe what I see too much at all. I think the prof of the pudding is in the eating as my Mum used to say

You got that one right on the mark! Practical every day use with any program will be your best indicator. All I can do here is indicate what I found worked out the best as far as general wider range protection over what I had been running.

Boosting your internet security as far as detection and filtering of bad sites along with any malwares is the first key step that goes well with one other thing. "Common sense"! You want a program that extends these types of protections regardless of the browser(s) you run to add that extra layer.

One thing that even caught me offguard with the program used here was seeing an active protection extend far enough to cover browsing while running the XP Mode or W8 Develop Preview on a VM! Now there's an item you likely won't find mentioned in any review but when having a program on and experiencing self discovery as far as how well any program performs in actual every day use.

I've been using Avast! along with MWBAM for years and I haven't had any problems with it to think of.

That chart is way off! For one Sunbelt is no longer Sunbelt but GFI Software and the only ones in red that can be said to offer Protection = None would be McAFail and Panda odorama as well as ZA Freebie!

The two rivals Norton and AVG do offer some degree of internet security each. I consult with one of Symantec's Sr. security analysts at times.

Thanks NH I have to admit I was being tad over enthusiastic after coming across this one and as we had said before results are somewhat inconsistent. However that still doesn't make me any more keen on Norton as I had so much trouble with it in the past.

Actually I am going to try out the paid Comodo whenevr I get around to it as the free one is one the money for me.

The av program I have on here already has a firewall with web filtering included solving that problem. You might want to give the trial versions for different programs a look first before paying out for one separately however.

The key is finding out what program(s) will actually work out the best for your own situation as far as browsing habits, email, etc. You can read a ton of reviews and still end up going for the wrong one.

Yeah I agree NH I have always advocated that the responsibility does inevitably and eventually rest with the user of any machine - nothing can compensate for carelessness or even naivety as I work with a few folks that have no idea what they are letting themselves be up for.
