I suggest avast,MSE or avira but im using avast atm. used those 3 before all work really good. Use to have norton but it failed on me and couldn't remove a stubborn infection and avg just took alot of ram and didn't catch what malwarebytes found sooo I never used it again

I've been using MSE since it's first beta and haven't looked back.

I use MSE on 3 of 4 machines and Comodo on the fourth; but I am getting frustrated with the Comodo +Defense as I believe it messes up some programs. I have had no problems with any of these and one is a test bed so a lot of downloaded programs are run.
That said I do a monthly Malwarebytes scan just to be sure that the others haven't missed anything.

Curious for the tough ones that fail you with Norton did you try to use NPE?
(Norton Power Eraser) I have YET to see any product to date stand up to Norton
if used WITH all the tools availble.

using kaspersky internet security 2012. it's heavi-er than some others like avg or esetnod

but it certainly is greater than AVGIS in virus detection IMO from my own experience
