Since I Spyblast realtime, I could run my free MBAM as part of routine maintenance. However, I would need to have a list of the specific folders that should get that should get checked as a part of my regular maintenance routine.
In case you're not aware of it, MBAM Pro while not free is a lifetime license so there are no annual fees.
It's normally $25 USD, but can be found for $15 or less if you keep an eye out for sales at places like Newegg, TigerDirect, and Walmart.
When you say Spyblast, what program is that? Spyblaster, SpywareBlaster, Spybot, ...?

Spywareblaster. I did not get email of new post here so sorry for delay in my reply. I was aware of it, but forgot and thought that was the deal with Spywareblaster. Then I found otherwise. Thx for that reminder tho.

All is good to best of my knowledge tho. I get some of blocked add-ons but don't know if that is IE9 or Spyblaster.

Havent done any maintenance in last two weeks tho so maybe time to Avast/MSE and MBAM.

Well for what it is worth running more than two AV's is asking for problems. I know a lot of folks like the real time MBAM but seriously I have paid and got the disk but just use the free.

But the choice is yours mate myself I would stick the MSE away and just use Avast.

By the way I use Superantispyware and ADWCleaner as on call scanners they pick up stuff that my Kaspersky and free MBAM do not find if you want the sites -

    Thx Icitol

Thx Icitol, I'm reluctant to add anything else for two reasons:

    1) I feel covered enough,

    2) more chance for conflict the more programs.

I've read no reviews on how well the programs you mention play with other programs. I clean via W7 built-in tools.

All of my programs are free except for my misunderstanding of Spywblaster fee. Got MBAMs fee confused with Spyblaster. oops.

I did my maintenance yesterday and found no problems and I know I've gone to some suspect sites.

Thx for advice. If I ever get enough money I will go back to a mac laptop. Until then, I love my W7. I feel about W7 the way I feel about Chevy Cruz, finally they matched standards of their competors quality, some 20 years later. r6

Good question, Personally I feel that for Microsoft Windows Operating System, you must install Microsoft Security Essentials from Microsoft website, here is the link Download Microsoft Security Essentials from Official Microsoft Download Centre

it is free to download and it is really essential for the system rather than using other antivirus software.

Hello and welcome Amy well the security issue is always full of personal choices and frankly no one is 100% infallible because to detect something it has to exist first or I may have it wrong but that is how I logically look at it .
Just because MSE is developed by M$ doesn't make it the best for M$ any more than Avast or Kaspersky or whatever etc etc However id you read some of the official test sites for security suites such as this Real-World Protection Tests you will see that MSE does not stack up that good and in fact in my view never has .
But I will say one thing though and I have said it many many times before security is up to whatever the user does with a machine - if you never switched it on it would never get infected would it? ridiculous but true fact or not?.
It really boils down to caveat utilitor (user beware) :)

I use ESET NOD32. I think it's pretty good. It scans complicated files and folders. Also, I think Norton and Kaspersky works better! But Kaspersky cause my system a lot of lags. So I changed to ESET.

I have and use Norton, MSE uses more resources. I've tried both.
