Windows 7: Best anti virus or internet security for windows 7?

i use to use kaspersky internet security with vista, anybody know the best one for windows 7?

This will be a very opinionated thread. There is no one best. There are several that are good. I use Kaspersky and it hasn't failed me yet. MSE is free and very good and for all my customers PC's that have expired or no AV I always install Avast 5.0 which is free(you have to register to get a key, but it is free). The new Norton is much improved and doesn't bog the system down like in the past.

Before you make up your mind, check out a different approach:

Sandboxie - Download Sandboxie

Instead of checking virus signatures, it redirects HD writes into a Sandbox folder. Much simpler approach that interferes much less with your system functioning.

Not all systems like the disk driver. If it won't install try going back a version number. If the disk driver installs and you can open a browser Sandboxed, and it surfs, then usually everything else works smoothly.

This is going to be the most useful objective information you get. That said, I have always been happy with Avast! + Comodo. Also this is website has good information.

Eset smart security 4 works very good

Kaspersky Internet Security works great on my 7 64 Bit. I had a lot of antivirus but this is absolutely the best.

Gotta throw my solution into the ring: Vipre Antivirus & Antispyware. Sunbelt Security is the company and it works great with all my machines from XP, Windows 7 32x, and Windows 7 64x. Be sure to check them out before deciding on anything else.

This is a unique product in that it uses 0 system resources. It does not run in the background, it runs on demand and it finds stuff the background scanners don't.

There is no reason that anyone needs full time anti-virus and security running in the background on their computers. If you scan your executable downloads, check your email attachements (which a-squared does by right clicking the file) you're not going to get virused.

For firewall and security, Windows native firewall does as good a job as any. If you are running in a LAN with a router that has a firewall, you can even disable the windows one with mo problems at all.

I've been using computers and bouncing around the internet for nearly 25 years and I've only once gotten nailed by a virus... and that was my own silly fault, clicking on unknown links in email spam.

Use some common sense, scan your system weekly, and you've got all the protection you need.
