If it worked before and it's giving you an error now, you may have been infected. How does your antivirus work? Will it update?

Get AVG Free edition and run a computer scan. Let us know what it comes up with.

Actually AVG won't work if zainravian's main antivirus won't. That's why I asked.

"Vundo", is malware that is known to disable a lot of antivirus programs and firewalls.

I had Vundo.Gen a while ago. If it weren't for it, I wouldn't be on this forum right now, and I'd have Vista.

the problem can also be caused by BITS - Background Intelligent
Transfer Service , try to go to services.msc and restart the BITS service , or try to set it to manual or auto and restart the pc .U could also try something like this, make a new txt on desktop in notepad an paste
    "sc config wuauserv start= auto
    sc config bits start= auto
    sc config DcomLaunch start= auto
    net stop wuauserv
    net start wuauserv
    net stop bits
    net start bits
    net start DcomLaunch "
without the "" and safe , after that rename it to test.bat , and after that run as admin.
Probably it also could be a virus , would recommend to install malwarebytes and run a quick scan , if it founds something delete restart and try again. If same , download HijackTHis and post a log , or send it to me ..

    I had this error code - here's how i fixed it -

Type 'services' into start menu search. Click on services. Scroll down to 'windows firewall' right click, choose 'properties' half way down to start up type select 'automatic' click 'apply' and then reboot. My problem solved. If your problem is with Wondows Defender then choose that instead of firewall

My problems started after trialling and then removing Norton Internet Security 2009.

    Hope this helps
