Open MWB. Select Protection tab. Check mark run quick scan and specify the time at which you want to run the scan.
Yes, when you click on the protection tab you'll see a box that says "Enable Protection Mode" this will start MBAM's version of a proactive malware scanner. You can change the options to have it start up automatically with Windows, show tooltips and more. Once you've enabled Protection Mode, you can click on the "Scheduler" button which will allow you to start daily scans.
By the way, I see you've listed your security software in your signature. I'd like to suggest that you switch from Windows Firewall to Comodo Firewall (Free) it's a much better piece of software IMO. It works well with Avast and MBAM, I have all three installed on my system. Here's the link:
Download Comodo Firewall
hey i have a question for you 'stillfreefilms' i noticed you have an acer aspire, and avast insternet security, did you acer aspire come with a fingerprint scanner cause when i installed avast internet security it conflicted with my fingerprint scanner. just wondering...
If you've bought Avast Internet Security, you might as well use that. I just suggested Comodo because it's one of the highest rated free firewall programs out there. You definitely don't want to have two firewall programs running at the same time, but either way the program you're using *should* disable Windows Firewall.
hi StealthyBoss, no it did not come with a finger print scanner i wish it did though but my laptop i about 2 years old now.
No way on earth will I install Comodo after reading this thread (and see also Corrine's useful post and links). Excellent alternatives mentioned in the thread.
Kerio personal firewall might be another alternative too.
k thanks, btw the fingerprint scanner aint all that great, its incompatible with avast internet security
edit: btw stick with avast firewall
