Avira Premium Security Suite 10 review:PC Mag

    read ........here

    Bottom Line

This edition of Avira Premium Security Suite corrects a couple big problems from the last edition, and its spam protection is quite good. Its malware protection is only OK, however, and the firewall, while effective, is unusually cryptic. You can do better.
    Pros

Effective at keeping malware out of a clean system. Accurate spam filtering. Firewall blocks exploits and detects them by name.
    Cons

Failed to block real-world attack by rogue anti-malware during testing. Spam filter appreciably slows e-mail download. Weak phishing protection. Rudimentary parental control and backup. Firewall popup queries unusually confusing.

Avira got a bad review as well in the current issue of Maximum PC.

I still maintain the best way to go is MSE and Malwarebytes combined with common sense.

Here were the pros and cons of MSE according to Maximum PC

    Pros

    • 10 second install time
    • sailed through synthetic spyware and malware tests
    • thwarted attempts to inflict damage with genuine payloads

    Cons

    • Slow scanning speeds with no improvement in subsequent scans
    • Power users don't have much fine grain control over settings
    • No ability to increase detection during a known scare or drop it if it hits false positives

The maximum PC test of Avira looked at their free product only

    Pros

    • Basic spyware protection
    • Fast initial scans and even faster subsequent scans.

    Cons

    • When using a known trojan with genuine payload, it failed to stop it, the virus disabled UAC, knocked out access to Task manager, and blocked AntiVir from running scans
