Good deal antharr
Pretty sure the one you would pay for only gives you automatic updates basically, when it updates every week or two. Other than that, the main program is free, and what it does, you can read my post here -
SpywareBlaster 4.3 Released
Doesn't have Real Time Protection in the sense of an active scanning program like paid Malwarebytes, or paid Superantisyware, etc.
It's just a basic stop-gap procedure. Gives you another layer of protection while browsing the interwebz, and being that it doesn't really get in the way, or run anything, it's not a bad thing.
Not a stand alone substitute for an active AV program, and/or running a manual scanner here and there every once and a while though. Having it installed and enabled won't interfere with your AV or AS program/s. :)

Something to be aware of is the impact of a long list of sites in the restricted zone of Internet Explorer 8. This wasn't a problem in versions of IE up to 7, but in IE8 performance really suffered. I had to erase the list to get IE 8 working decently. I stopped using SpywareBlaster and also the immunize function of Spybot S&D as a result. YMMV though. I'd be interested to hear what others are experiencing.
