    Right on

Right on Max I have tried a few over the last few months particularly (apps) and since I have been trying Comodo the more impressed I am with it. I am putting it on for my friends who have some real rubbish stuff on and their machines come to me chockers (full)

As I said somewhere else if I didn't have Kaspersky IS 2012 (another great app) on Comodo would be the one for me. I particularly like the allow block pop up which seems to annoy a few but I find it very reassuring. Now I know KIS does thsi to a certain extent but CIS seems to just out do it a bit.

What I am trying to find out is can CIS be set to safe run with online banking like KIS? Have asked in the forum but it's a bit like waiting for someone to return your call. Plus has anyone tried the email from Comodo yet?? I have got it in downloads ready to rock and roll but would like some opinions first.

Top program and as soon as my KIS gets low on one of the machines it's going on the full Monty

A Guy- Thanks for pointing out the 'customize installer' option located right under the 'Agree and Install" button in small print. Thanks to you I won't get fooled into letting the GeekBuddy get installed again. Other than that the v5.8.211697.2124 install was as smooth as silk and the upgraded Comodo Firewall is been running great and using a lean 4.368 MB of RAM...

I was very glad that the GeekBuddy logo disappeared from the Comodo GUI after I used Revo to uninstall the software.

Ironically, the upgrade will not work for me. I run it and after a restart the firewall shows as initializing, and never loads. The about shows the old version. There is no Comodo listing in any uninstall tools. I've tried it twice after making images (thank goodness). I guess I'll stick with the older version, or do an uninstall, and a fresh install (didn't want to have to teach it all over again).

    Another option

A Guy as Maxx said uninstalled the other version first? I don't know about Comodo but I know that Kaspersky has to be removed in two separate actions 1 - uninstall the app itself and then 2 - use the KAV removal tool for remnants - even Revo doesn't go that far - unless I am dreadfully wrong.

Have you looked in here - https://forums.comodo.com/index.php I go in there from time to time and the only prob is it's a bit slow getting replies at times.

I'll ask in my local forum too theres a couple of guys in there hwo are really into this sort of stuff. But the above may give you some ideas as I reckon you have a problem that is not unlike uninstalling Kaspersky:)

Anyway A Guy teaching it isn't so bad is it?? I've had to teach my Kasersky at least 11 times now on my three machines and you can do it real quick after number 4 session lol!!

As for the Geekbuddy yeah not getting it in the first place is the best idea but anyone who gets sucked in my fix works in a few clicks but I must admit Maxx's fix is the best.

OT I know but the "additions" are damn annoying especially those that creep under the radar with Adobe eg Google toolbar

From the original Forum post DBone posted:

    Updating From Previous Versions:

We are going to issue the automatic updates starting from the next week. So you do not need to uninstall your current version and reinstall this one.
However, if you do not want to wait until the next week you can do one of the following:

1 - You can use the installers below to update your existing copy. Just run it and it should update by keeping your existing settings.

2 - You can uninstall the old version and install this new version: This option is also suitable for most people. I personally always go with this option.
That's why I tried to upgrade and not lose all settings. A Guy

After performing dozens of Comodo upgrades for the very first time in my 3 year experience the v5.8 Installer did not ask to first uninstall the existing version, but rather installed V5.8 and after rebooting the computer Comodo v5.8 was fully functional with all of my Firewall and Proactive Defense+ HIPS settings perfectly in place where before each time Comodo was upgraded I had to save and re-import them.

I didn't mind uninstalling Comodo for each version upgrade, but starting with v5.8 uninstalling the old version in a separate action isn't even an option any longer.

Concerning the thoroughness of the Revo Uninstaller here is a screenshot of the first screen of a Revo WinAmp uninstall of 1090 keys and 1134 values which went on for so many screens I lost count ...
