I had this happen a while back & it still happens now and then. Every now & then I have to do the following, and after doing some investigating, apparently other people have this prob too...

Microsoft's solution at this point is to navigate to C:/program data/microsoft/microsoft security essentials/support

Find the "MSSEOOBE.etl" and simply delete it. Once you restart the computer, MSE will recreate it.

The file gets corrupted, but doesn't affect the performance or functionality.

thanks for the reply Borg! Will try it out and see if i stop getting those messages - at least temporarily.
It would be good to know exactly why this is happening. I read that it could even be caused by a corrupt user profile - apart from the obvious virus/malware thing.

I read on a couple other help forums that some people have experienced unexplained 0xC000000D errors that were eventually attributed to a corrupt download of definitions. Problem supposedly solved by uninstalling/reinstalling MSE.

Glad it helped SophiD. I have re-installed MSE and unfortunately, I keep getting that same error message once in a while showing up in my Event Viewer. From what I've garnered, since the fix is a simple delete and reboot issue, MS hasn't addressed the prob, more then likely since it doesn't affect the performance.

@ marsmimar- It could be that, but I've also read on a couple posts that it's related to the MS Experience or something in that neighborhood. Either way, I'm glad the fix is simple and that it doesn't cripple the performance in any way.
