    Is Kaspersky 2010 really good?

Sorry if I sound a bit stupid, but I honestly dont know that much about computers. Also, forgive me if I posted this in the wrong section.

I have recently purchased a Toshiba A500 laptop, and after asking around the internet about a week before purchase I found that Kaspersky 2010 is one of the most reccomended Anti-Virus's...

I am just wondering though, is it actually really good and/or the best Anti-Virus you can get? I used to have Norton Anti-Virus and I have had a LOT of problems with it, so I am rather paranoid about Kaspersky or any other Anti-Virus.

Check that informative post above and also take a look at AV-comparatives (an independent organisation that tests anti-virus software) latest report and website.

A graph from their February report. The lower the better.

I dunno Kaspersky was one of the best AVs in 2009 but in 2010 it isn't as good anymore. Some free AVs (like MSE and Avast) are now as good in Kaspersky in virus protection but Kaspersky has a lot more features. Norton, Eset, Bitdefender are good paid options in my mind. But everybody has a different opinion when it comes to anti-virus protection.

Only you can decide for yourself.

You need to decide if you need the features it offers and for the price it costs. Would a free alternative with less features be enough for you?

    Read reviews and tests.

Trial it. From 2009 onwards I started using Norton and I have had no significant problems.

After running the tril of Kaspersky & Norton before the clean instal in Oct. I decided on Norton because it seemed lighter & faster & equally effective.

Thats not saying Kaspersky is bad at all. I just liked Norton better.

It really is a personal choice.
As Malexous suggested, grab a trial.
Give a test run and see what you think, then decide. All of the main Av Suites will let you try thier product for 30days.

As everyone has said, its purely choice. Download the free trials from each provider and test each for a week or so.

Not to mention, at the same time you will have free AV untill you purchase or the trials run out.
