    Threatfire - any good?

Just wondering where PCTools ThreatFire belongs, on this list, or the Anti-Malware list....it seems to work well in combination with MSE, but I don't think it would be suited to be a stand-alone program.

    Good lists, tw33k!

ThreatFire should be near the top of the top 10 worst list. It detects plenty of "nasties" but doesn't want to remove them without paying for it.

For whatever reason, it reminds me of those fake AVs that detect so many viruses.

    .
I've used Threatfire on and off. I wouldn't call it a fake AV, but I haven't found it useful either - can't recommend it. If you need something to provide a second opinion in "real-time" I suggest Prevx 3.0 in demo mode (free). It will detect but not remove malware.
