Can I add an "Administrator" account?

I have W7 Home Premium on my VAIO laptop with only one account, which is an Administrator account. I would like to change my account to a Standard User account but first I would like to add an account with the name of Administrator with Administrator authority and give it a password.

I'm not sure if this has any effect on the "built-in" Administrator account.

Thanks,
Robert

Welcome Robert,
Here's a tutorial that should help you out,

Also here's some info on the built in administrator account,

Built-in Administrator Account - Enable or Disable

Which is disabled by default.

Hi and welcome to the forums.

You can add an admin accoun by following the tutorial at Create a user account (You are on a Workgroup not a Domain)

This will in no way affect the hidden administrator account.

Oli

EDIT: Derek beet me too it with a better post.

Is W7 Home Premium different from XP Pro? My XP Pro boxes with multiple usrs don't display the Admin acct on the login screen that lists the accounts.

Thanks,
Robert

Account "Roger" appears as "c:\users\user"
Hi all, I recently created a new user account on a win 7 home premium machine before I'd had much experience with win 7 (but years with 2000 and xp). Instead of users\Roger\ it created users\user which I now realise is not correct. (I didn't call my account "user", either, before you ask. :) )...

Getting "must be administrator" messages under admin account.
I have only one user account on my laptop (Windows 7) and naturally it is an administrator account. But when trying to install new software, more often than not, I get a message saying I need to be logged in under an administrator account to continue. Not always but far too often. For example,...
