    I love you, ten!
It really worked when I used it thru the gpedit.msc and even without restart.

(I am not using IE but Firefox, horewer these messages appeared even when using SpeedCommander and Explorer, but now they are gone, so it does not really matters)

    I think he means this.

Whenever you try to run an executable (maybe other types as well?) from your desktop, you'll get this prompt. Very annoying.

Edit: It has NOTHING to do with UAC. Happens with UAC completely off, and also happens in XP.... the gpedit.msc thing works to disable it, though.

When you double click an .exe file and you see the warning, there is supposed to be a tick box on the lower left side, asking if you want this message to show up next time.

    Uncheck it.

    That's all.

I belive he wants it to never show up for any program he runs currently and any program he downloads and runs

Yep, that's what I was saying.

If you uncheck it for one .exe file, the message will never show again for any .exe file.

    Greetz

Edit, it worked for the first ten .exe files I've opened, the eleventh gave the message again.

The tick box should say, don't show this for the next ten .exe files.

I've actually never had that tick box work. XP, 7, nada.
I could reopen the same program and still get prompted.

Just tested it here and it works. It needs a reboot to take effect. I got no warning when using Firefox so I presume you're using IE?

Here's how to set it without a reg file. Type gpedit.msc in your run box and navigate to this...

THANKS Ten! I've had this annoying problem ever since XP... only with a couple of database files (.mdb) I use weekly. Putting .mdb in the low risk setting did the trick.
