Windows 7: "Fireball" Virus?

Windows 7 Ultimate x64 with SP1

I have helped a lot of people with computer problems. They had McAfee and were complaining because their computer was being very slow. I used a 3rd party program to scan for malware present on the machine. I just helped someone two weeks ago who had McAfee. I ran this 3rd party program on their system and McAfee let over 12 pieces of malware and other viruses on the machine. She was so disgusted that she got rid of it and I set her up with Kaspersky and she is happy as ever and her computer isn't slow anymore. Removing viruses can be hard, and a PAIN!!! After my experience with McAfee, I don't trust it. It was the 2009 version that I was using through my internet provider. It promised to have millisecond detection and all that - but if it did, it wasn't working for me. I don't even trust the new version of McAfee 2010 that is out now...
In light of that, I started to wonder, can Windows 7 get viruses? On all the virus reports I see from Symantec (because I have a 3 Macs with Norton on them), all the viruses that I see on the ThreatCon are usually for Windows ME, XP, Vista, etc. None are for Windows 7. But if 2 Trojans were found formerly from my McAfee, then it must that they can...who knows...

Win 7 32 Home Premium, Win 7 64 Pro, Win 8.1, Win 10

Win 7 was safe from viruses for about the 1st 3 weeks, then the virus/malware writers adapted.

The version of McAfee that came with mine was the 2010 "Security Center", a bundle of all kinds of stuff along with a 1 yr subscription.

In some aspects, it has been good about some things, such as if I get a D/L that has something bundled, it will give me a warning of "potentially unwanted software" (Google Bar, Yahoo Bar, etc), but I really don't trust them in the AV area.

Who knows, maybe after that little snafu with WinXP (Wasn't that fun?), they'll get their act together. Maybe...

That was one unbelievable mess that McAfee had with their signature accidentally getting out of their QA environment. Maybe they will look to change their products to make them better.

Changing the "minimize" "maximize" and "close" buttons of a theme
Ok so I'm using a custom visual style made by another user however I don't really like the buttons used that I mentioned above. The creator states it is acceptable to change the theme to however you like as long as you don't redistribute it anywhere. Ok so I opened up the .msstyles file (using...
BSOD every few hours: mostly "STOP: 0x00000F4", "c00021a" & "c0000135"
Hi everyone! Yesterday my HP laptop (Windows 7) started getting BSOD with various types of errors (mostly "STOP: 0x00000F4", "STOP: 0x0000007A", "c00021a" and one "missing %hs, c0000135"). Most of the time it restarts without any issues and works fine right after the BSOD and then an hour or two...

Need to add "TASKBARS" (MSese for "Launchpads", "Docks" NOT "Toolbars"
My office just upgraded, and I can no longer use Windows XP. On this system, I was able to add a separate taskbar to facilitate quick access to commonly-browsed folder locations on our vast network, and another one expedited the launching of useful programs and lists. Each task on each taskbar...

How can I be sure if I am still infected with "Win32/Small.CA" virus".
Hi I got a "Solve PC Issues" (white flag) saying "Remove the Win32/Small.CA virus". I am running MSE (Microsoft Security Essentials) on Windows 7 Pro (x64). So I did an update followed by a full scan using MSE. I then ran - Malware Anti-Virus - SUPERAntispyware - Microsoft Safety Scanner...
