    Symantec Endpoint Protection

    Hello,
I am writing in inquiring information on installing SEP 11 on Windows 7 Home Premium. A family member works at a university and therefore can download it for free from their site. It installs "OK" but after a scan and updates for it, LiveUpdate gets corrupted with error LU1808. This is extremely frustrating! When I do a complete uninstall of the product and attempt to reinstall it, it gets through one process of the installation then rolls back everything and says that the installation was "interrupted" and has been stopped. It also says to try again later.
Does anyone know why LiveUpdate keeps corrupting?

Thanks in advance for your response!

I run version 11.0.5.00 and i always install Live update first and then install the main client if that helps but make sure to use there uninstall program before doing a clean new install and see if that works.

How do you install LiveUpdate first? I want to make sure that it won't corrupt on me again like it did the last 2 times.

I tried installing LiveUpdate first. It worked! But when I tried installing the Endpoint Protection, it rolled back. Oh well, I guess I'm just not supposed to have it... Kaspersky has served me well so far...

It was fate. Symantec's enterprise products can be more hassle than they are worth. Quite different to Norton products of today.

Kaspersky is a very good choice, protection wise but some find it is heavy on resources.

Are you doing a unmanaged install boy I have heard of some issues but I run Symantec on 5 systems and never an issue, well hope you get some AV to work to protect your system.

I agree. Symantec's corporate products can be a hassle to install when they don't want to "work right". I think they need to look at how they can improve their corporate products from installation to the program and its protection. It's users like me who want to use it can't because its refusal to work is so frustrating!

Yes, I wrote that question in Symantec Connect.
