Windows 7 Action Center Report Security Software NOT Installed
I've seen reports in the past where Windows users said that the Action Center in Windows 7 was showing that their security software (antivirus, anti-spyware or firewall) was not installed. However, it was installed and working normally.
The following Microsoft KB article explains the reason why the security software is not recognized by the Action Center.
From Microsoft KB Article KB2028210, Last Review: May 28, 2010Cause: Due to a change to the Security Center interface for ISVs, some antivirus, antispyware, and firewall programs could be incompatible with the Action Center in Windows 7.
New APIs were introduced in Vista SP1 that implemented new API's. More information on this case be found at the following link:
Upcoming Action Center Changes for Security Vendor Software
If the application vendor does not use the appropriate API's, the Action Center will not show that the product is properly installed.
Resolution: Please contact the antivirus\antispyware\firewall vendor for a newer version of their software.
