I did. I didn't see where Win 7 compatibility was mentioned.

I wonder if this new version has ironed out those problems?

Not sure about the new version but we get lot of OP's in BSOD section that caused crashes because of Zone Alarm specifically. It tends to block some of the System services like svchost.exe that causes serious problem.

I quite agree; that is why I posed the question. I may do a system image backup and give the new version a try to see what happens.

CheckPoint is displaying the Windows 7 Compatibility logo on their website at Best Free Firewall Software for Download: Personal Firewall by ZoneAlarm . However, it isn't listed on the Microsoft Windows 7 Compatibility list: Windows 7 Compatibility for ZoneAlarm Firewall: Drivers, Updates, Downloads

Thanks, Corrine. I still may give it a try. I can always restore from my Macrium image if it creates problems. That beats having to go through the uninstall routine.

i thought you meant the CPU-usage...

Zonealarm has the W7-logo on their website, but if it causes crashes then of course it makes you wonder about compatibility...

i downloaded ZA last night, i´m going to test it with CLT & CPIL etc. but it will have to wait until tomorrow,
i´m testing Avast & a-squared (EAM) with Online Armor right now....

Corrine: thanks for the info, another company that claims they are "certified"....

No problem. The older versions of ZA just don't play nice with Win 7.

I don't know where CheckPoint got the idea that because other products are identified as Compatible that means that all are. ZA Free is a new product and not included in the product list at the Microsoft Compatibility Center, even as "Information coming soon" like it shows for their A/V product. Check Point's ZoneAlarm Extreme Security is the only product shown with the Logo displayed by the name. The others are merely listed as "compatible".

BTW, rumor has it that CheckPoint dumped IAC/Ask in favor of a different vendor for the toolbar.
