If I can't opt out of the toolbar, I won't install it.

    .
I understand that sometimes it's the principal of the thing, but you could also just disable the toolbar afterward if you can't opt out.

I would say it was caused by ZA.

    hi !

Thanks, Corrine. I still may give it a try. I can always restore from my Macrium image if it creates problems. That beats having to go through the uninstall routine.
    another way to test it:
clone your existing W7-partition with fx. Macrium to a new partition.
now you have a test-system to test ZA or other programs on.
add the new partition to the bootmanager and reboot.

then if ZA or some other program mess up the O/S then you don´t have to do anything,
except reboot to get the old system back again.

i´m going to set up such a test-system myself...

System Requirements for ZoneAlarm Free Firewall:

    Microsoft® Windows® 7*:

    • 32-bit / 64-bit , 2 GB RAM
    • 2 GHz or faster processor
    • 100MB of available hard-disk space

perhaps there is a problem with 64-bit ?
i´m going to test ZA after i have cloned W7 to a new partition.
    i have a P4 with 1.8GHz CPU so it´s 32-bit.
