One more question about Windows Firewall Control

    Hello,
I have been reading the posts about the Sphinx windows firewall control. If I download this app, won't it be just like all the third party firewalls in that the average user will just allow all things to pass? So you are not really protected if you use the allow all. Does the Sphinx software give any details in it's popups? I also read where it only uses the windows firewall once at the beginning and then it's just another third party firewall. Please say it aint so. I would love to get rid of my third party firewall and just use Windows fw. Thanks,
    John

    Hi John,
I am ignoring all but the last sentence of your post as you have expressed a preference for just using the inbuilt Windows Firewall.

IMO, if you have a router firewall plus the Windows Firewall, practise safe surfing, do your Windows updates as required that should be quite sufficent.

I have a router firewall which only blocks incoming not outgoing. I do practice safe surfing. but , I still want outbound protection just in case. So I still want to know about the Sphinx Windows Firewall Control. Is it just another third party firewall or does it work with windows built in firewall?

"...Want fine-grained control over the firewall built into Windows 7 and Windows Vista - especially the way it blocks outbound connections? Good luck. Even if you manage to unearth the controls buried deep in Windows menus and applications, you'll be baffled. Windows 7 Firewall Control Free solves the problem for you in both Windows Vista and Windows 7.

Windows 7 Firewall Control Free lets you tell the Windows firewall to block applications from making outbound connections to the internet, or to customise the way they make those connections..."
