    Action Centre Changes

Upcoming Action Center Changes for Security Vendor Software
By nwhite on 06 May 2009

We have been working in partnership with our independent software vendor (ISV) community to move the ecosystem to a set of new application programming interfaces (APIs) that many ISVs use to report status to Security Center (integrated within Action Center in Windows 7). The interfaces are used by many antivirus, antispyware, and firewall programs. Te interface changes were introduced in Windows Vista SP1. These new APIs supersede the ones originally shipped in Windows Vista.

    Hi Digger,

Not sure, being as I don't use punkbuster , but as far as I know this change is for AV, avast is one, type applications that report status through the security center.

If punkbuster uses the UI to communicate messages to to the user, and they haven't updated the API's they use then it will only mean more issues

Sorry if there's any confusion :)

The new API's are in Windows 7 from the start and in Vista from SP1, it's just that the grace period for Vista apps is coming to an end and users may see the error message quoted if the correct API's are not being used.

Using a non compliant app on Windows 7 will give, and always has given, the error message.

I only posted here to let people know that the message indicates a fault with the app and not the OS
