It seems that this is a universal problem at the moment, being reported elsewhere as well. As you already know, you can download the latest updates for MSE from https://www.microsoft.com/security/p...?wa=wsignin1.0

Of course i am. Never had any problems.
Well if it works for you....

I doubt you will find many people who would recommend it though, AV's have a habit of fighting each other in Realtime

No not really Avast is made to work together with MSE there is a article on the Avast Blog site stating it. alot of ppl here use the two i believe.

MSE updates flagged in Win 7 updates but not XP Mode updates
I find it odd that when I do a Windows Update in Windows 7, the Microsoft Security Essentials (MSE) updates are also found. But if I do a Windows Update in XP Mode, the MSE updates are not found. I don't suppose this is controllable? I'd like the Windows Update to find MSE updates.
