I use MSSE and Comodo Firewall and no problems.
I am not sitting behind a router firewall though.

I tried comodo. Great firewall but talks way too much and uses way too much resources for me. Online Armor worked much better but I don't like any of the third party firewalls.

    Hello,
I am using MSSE and I noticed that it said that last update was three days ago. I thought this was suppose to update at least once a day. I have windows updates set to fully automatic. Am I missing something? Doesn't Microsoft just update on Tuesdays? Thanks,
    John
if you mean Microsoft Security Essentials, then it´s commonly known as MSE.

there is already a thread about the latest update problems, with some info on how to "fix it" temporarily:

Sorry about the MSSE. MSE from now on. I never got errors and was always able to update with just a click. I have set MSE to scan daily now so it will update daily. It's as good as solved to me. Thanks,

    See your first post!
Nobody else corrected it until just recently..
I stand corrected and I resemble that statement.

Thanks for the info. I have noticed on several occasions that it had not been updated for a couple of days. Not just the last few. By the way, Corrine, where do you stand on third party firewalls? I'm using MSSE and Windows 7 firewall with no outbound protection. I am also behind a router firewall with NAT enabled. I tried Zone Alarm free, but I got BSOD. MSSE and ZA don't seem to get along.
    You're welcome.

On Windows 7 Ultimate (64-bit), I'm using MSE, Windows 7 Firewall, router and UAC at Default. I also have my favorite WinPatrol PLUS installed. Since I'm a safe surfer (Windows 95 to date, never infected, knock on wood), I am happy with that combination.

I have personal reasons for not wanting to use Comodo software on my computer and have seen many posts here at 7Forums where people have had major problems with ZA.

I suggest you include an alternate anti-malware software in your setup, if you haven't yet. My preference is Malwarebytes Anti-Malware because I know and respect the developers and researchers. However, another good program is Super AntiSpyware.

I use everything you suggested in last paragraph along with MSE AV and Comodo Firewall only.
I am almost on the same page you are except the firewall.
    Corrine,
    Which FW do you use?
