Slow Kasperski 2011 Scanner

The last Kasperski full scan on my laptop reports that it will be finished in 21 hours WTF! Anyone else having such issues? I'm thinking that they rushed this out of beta too soon or else I should have completely uninstalled 2010 and they are now conflicting.

I was under the impression that Kaspersky 2011 was not coming out until August. I can't find it on their site. Did you download it from the official website?

I watched a review on the KIS 2011 product and have to say I wasn't crazy about it from the start. The reason I switched to Norton was because my KIS 2010 was letting malware in that Malwarebytes was finding and then not telling me that there were hidden Trojans and other garbage on my system.

I am no longer recommending that to people I help. Norton has been decent for me so far considering that I just bought the box for it at Walmart.

All I see on the Kaspersky home page is 2010, and an announcement that 2011 is coming in August.

I have never had the problems with Kaspersky that codyw is describing, although I have had problems with Norton ... just goes to show that not every AV is right for every user...

EDIT: Ok, finally got the download link from kaspersky 2011 released

What kind of problems did you have with Norton BCXtreme. I'm interested to know...
Mine "seems" to be working.....

Starting with the first Norton 360, the program seemed to become really bloated, and my CPU was maxed at 100%, computer slow as molasses, until I uninstalled it. Kaspersky uses almost no system resources even though it scans my system perpetually. Norton also makes you pay for an "upgrade" every time a new version comes out (or at least they did when I used it), whereas any current Kaspersky subscription always works with the latest version of the software.

I stopped using Norton when it slowed down my computer so much, and went to AVG (for a very short time), then Avast, then finally Kaspersky, and I've been happy since. We'll see if version 2011 keeps me hooked.

You can upgrade for free to NAV/NIS2010 with an active subscription to the 2006 products or later.

The bloat in Norton, for the most part, has gone. Anyone I have seen that have used both claim that NIS2010 is lighter than KIS2010.

I use NIS 2010 and I noticed something different compared to KIS 2010.
A couple times when I was using MS Publisher 2007 with KIS installed, I always got a message saying that Windows was low on memory and to close any open programs to free up some memory. The only programs I had open was Word, Publisher and sometimes the Snipping Tool built in on Windows 7. I haven't gotten that message since I have been using NIS. I just thought that was interesting.

I use NIS 2010, so I could upgrade to NIS 2011 and use my same activation key to upgrade?
