I am a happy owner of a new Asus K50. i got it from bestbuy and it had trend micro on it for a free 3 months. the 3 month trial expires on a few days.
my question is: what is a good affordable internet/ anti virus program to run with windows 7? i was told that kaspersky would be the best for a $30-$40 price range.
so the built-in security system will detect any viruses and male ware and everything that the current security does. micro trend had blocked web sites that it sees to posibly be harmfull, i haven't seen anything from the microsoft security.
I have not had one bit of problem with those I mentioned in the previous post!
Make sure you do your weekly backups and scans and watch where you go and you will be fine.

there are several FREE antivirus-programs available, MSE, Avast, Avira, MBAM, a-squared-free....

Microsoft Security Essentials (MSE) has performed very well in all tests i´ve seen, and i have my eyes on several "testing companies like A/V-comparatives & VB100 etc.
I agree with the above posts about using MSE and Windows firewall. Also Malwarebytes and Super Antispyware. I have also recently learned that you should be operating from a standard user account and not from an admiistrator account. All these things plus using UAC will help keep you safe. I am also behind a NAT enabled router with built in firewall. According to GRC Shields Up tests, I don't exist to the outside world. You can check this out at www.grc.comThese are my results.
