    Deviantart virus

    Hey my laptop just got hit with deviantart.com's latest virus and now it will only start in startup recovery mode. I ran a hardware diagnostic from the boot screen, it didn't find anything. The command prompt is available on the system recovery menu. Is there anything I can do with that to fix my problem? I would really prefer not to format my hard drive.

    Download this,

    Download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware 1.50.1 - FileHippo.com

    install it, update the database and run a FULL scan.

    You can also use ;

    http://www.superantispyware.com/

    and if you have access to another machine, download and burn this to disk, then boot from it;

    Could you not download and burn Avira AntiVir Rescue System visiting a friend or neighbor? As this is a scanning system at boot, you would not have problems accessing the system.

    Reboot the system, then just press F8 repeatedly when you first see the POST messages.
