Is it safe to disable UAC

Evening all just a quick question i was wondering if its deemed safe to diable UAC. The reason i ask is my MSI afterburner app and others as well always pop up when i start my machine to ask me if its ok for them to load. I have set them to start up with windows as i need them but cant find a way to have UAC not pop up asking me every time i boot

    any ideas?

    many thanks

It depends...do you install illegal software (use cracks, keygens, etc) or visit unknown websites (ie not legitimate)?

Practice common sense and use legal software and you won't need to worry about UAC. It's mainly designed to protect people from themselves, those that download pirated software or browse the web without thinking.

If you do not use the internet, it is safe to disable. If you do use the internet, it is not such a bright idea.

    Hi craney5,

You ask is it safe to disable UAC...

Being safe implies far more than having UAC enabled / disabled. [ Firewall, Anti virus etc, surfing habits etc.]

You might care to read the link below.

FWIW I have left UAC on.... A few extra clicks worry me not.

Rather than disable UAC completely take a look at this tutorial . This should allow you to load your required applications at start-up without triggering the UAC prompt.

pay particular attention to the highest privledges setting and when the application is triggered at start-up or a particular user log 0n

UAC is a little safety item. It's only a click away. Me and my mouse don't have a problem with it. It's a little reminder to the uses; do I really want that program to open or (I didn't even no I had that program) if the later you have some searching to do before allowing it to open. A little safety that cost nothing.
