Visual Styles: How to Manually Patch .DLL Files?

Hello,

I love desktop customization and I want to fully customize my desktop. I've been using the UxStyle Core Beta software which doesn't patch .dll files but enables custom themes. However, buttons and some elements of Explorer windows don't change, which doesn't provide me with the full potential of customization I'm looking for.

I'm also trying to be careful when it comes to system files. I've been reading through these forums as well as other sources on the Internet and it seems that many people have problems after patching their systems using that Universal Theme Patcher (Blue Screen, logon problems, windows and icons getting messed up...etc). So I was wondering if there was a way to manually replace the 3 files in System32 and the two files in SysWOW64 as I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium. And if so, would that be safe and what are the risks and solutions to the possible problems? (Would it also be possible to provide me with a link to the 5 .dll files?)

Sorry for being too picky but I don't want to format my new laptop, and thank you for your time and answers

Can you post a screenshot of the explorer window & show us what is not changing I use UxStyle & it work fine for me.
Somethings do not change with just a theme Like the back & forward buttons you have to change some system files that come with some themes.

My explorer looks like this when I'm using this Visual Style. And I read that UxStyle doesn't affect buttons and some other elements.

Looking at your window if you use the Universal Theme Patcher it will look the same. The 3 areas I marked in red you have to change system files that control them & they are not the same ones in the Universal Theme Patcher

Combining two visual styles into one
Dear All, I have in my disposal a Windows 8 Release preview theme (obtained here, direct link to download) and a more-windows-8-like Windows 8 RTM style (obtained here, direct link to download). The problem is I like both the glassy RP style and some elements of the RTM style. I tried...

Strange problem with visual styles
I have tried a few visual styles and for some reason the magnifying glass icon in the search toolbar never changes it's style. Look at the pic. Top is how mine looks, bottom is what it should look like: http://img267.imageshack.us/img267/1063/unbenanntnzj.jpg I changed explorer.exe and...

Best Visual Styles/Themes?
What are some of the greatest W7 themes/visual styles that completely change the way the OS looks? I tried a few, but they were too lame. All of them were dark and shiny, and the transparency effects didn't work for many, if not, ANY of them. Is there a good theme that offers a Matte Plastic...

I'm trying to apply the Macos X theme from deviantart. I've run into an issue that the UAC doesn't show when trying to copy "imageres.dll" to the proper folder.
