Well, what else should i do to 'customize' my desktop?

One thing I would do is change your pinned taskbar icons to match your desktop. You can use the below tutorial to do so. I'll also post a picture of my desktop if it helps.

Hmmmm... Okay. Perhaps something like WindowBlinds?

Ah, right. You need a fair bit of RAM to run WindowBlinds without lag. I'll post back if I can find anything else.

personally i would use objectdock and free up the desktop of the mass of shortcuts, you can still have them but on a dock either auto hidden or on show. this would enable you to have decent wallpapers showing which would enhance the desktop more.
