I Own the Home Basic Edition

Folks, I finally bought a new computer here in Mexico with Windows 7 Home Basic, and realized too late that it is not Home Premium. But I'm having a great time with it.

Does anyone else on this forum use Home Basic?
My computer is dual-core with 4 gigs of RAM. Is there a download that will allow me to use Windows 7 themes on my computer?

PS. Windows XP, you served me well. Adios.

Your best bet would be to buy an anytime upgrade to Windows 7 Home Premium at this point. There should be an option for this somewhere in the start menu.

Believe it or not, I can't. Home Basic cannot be upgraded, at least not in Mexico. Starter can, but not Home Basic. I think the idea is they didn't want people buying it cheap, bringing it to the US, and then upgrading it.

Home Basic does not support Aero for themes (transparency, for instance). There apparently is a workaround that I cannot confirm myself, as I have Home Premium. Have a look at OPTION TWO here:

Thanks, A Guy. It works great. I can download and install themes easily. Now I'm trying to figure out how to turn Aero on.
