Screensaver timeout not honored
Screen saver set to 10 minutes, does not initiate.
This machine has been giving me difficulty since day 1. I've worked with HP and replaced the hard drive and Optical drive which resolved the one issue and performance improvements were noticed. However, there are still issues with the laptop - I'll most likely send it to them to replace as I believe it to be wither the MOBO or one of the chips on it.
Anyway, to the point of this thread - maybe someone can suggest something I haven't tried (basically setting all themes and power options to various values).

I have a MS Wireless Laser Desktop 6000 (mouse and keyboard) that might be keeping the system "awake". This too has caused me difficulty on Win7.
Updating from MS Hardware installs Intellitype and Intellipoint and supporting drivers (transceiver detection, filters)
Updating in WU installs:
Microsoft USB Dual Receiver Wireless Keyboard (Mouse and Keyboard Center)
Microsoft USB Dual Receiver Wireless Mouse (Mouse and Keyboard Center)
Other hardware - Microsoft Hardware USB Keyboard
Other hardware - Microsoft Hardware USB Mouse
Other hardware - HID Non-User Input Data Filter (KB 911895)
Other hardware - HID Non-User Input Data Filter (KB 911895)
The WU hardware update disabled all mouse specific customization (keyboard only in the "Mouse and Keyboard Center") as well as in Control Panel -> mouse.
The mouse and keyboard for both installs were basically unusable (keys not typing, mouse actions jittery or incomplete - a drag and drop would drop anywhere, a scroll would highlight or select...). I replaced batteries in both devices - nope, I uninstalled bluetooh - nope, I disabled the Synaptics touchpad - nope, I backed off the filters - better, I moved teh transceiver from a USB 2.0 to a USB 3.0 port - better, but new issue (wireless signal weak after 30-??? minutes - random).
So as it is now - no filters, IP & ITP installed, in USB 3.0 port, no bluetooth. Things work well enough, but there are the same, albeit intermittent, problems that still crop up.
The screen saver issue came up after I moved the KB & Mouse to the USB 3.0 port. Also, due to the flaky mouse, I accidentally opened AMD Vision Engine Control Center which has some configuration options for power
Thanks for any and all suggestions, but don't spend too much time on this.
