Themes Service Stopping ?

hi, wondering if someone could help. My themes service on windows 7 64bit keeps stopping and therefore changing me back to a basic theme. When i go into services and start the themes it starts for like 20 secs and then stops. Any suggestions?

Hello khendry21, and welcome to Sevenforums!

Is the service set to start automatically?

Also, follow these tutorials:
SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker
Startup Repair

hi, yes its set to automatically .. it loads up with the aero theme then after maybe 5 minutes it reverts back to basic, and the themes service is stopped. Also cannot select new theme as there greyed out. Ive ran the system checker, and it came back saying no violations.

Khen,

Please fill out your system specs - this tool may help you with that.

Then, try this: Perform a clean startup to determine whether background programs are interfering with your game or program (clean startup to determine if programs are interfering)

It is always possible your graphics card cannot support Aero theme. You need to update your specs for me to know, and to help you update it if it can be.

From the Ease of Access Center, in the section "Make the computer easier to see", under "Make things on the screen easier to see", uncheck "Remove background images (where available)."

In system Properties (type "advanced system settings" in start menu search), click on "Settings" under "Performance". Select "Let Windows choose what's best for my computer" as a quick test. Wnable the theme service, then restart. If the theme is disabled the next time, set it to auto and click "start" to get it going. If this doesn't work, reset performance settings back to how you had wanted them set.

Annnd do this: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/w...troubleshooter

Do this too: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/w...troubleshooter test your hardware

Hi thanks for replying, im currently on my phone at the minute. I will try your solutions tomorrow. Ive tried the two troubleshooting options tho. The aero theme troubleshoot sorts the problem for 5 minutes then the themes service just stops. And i know for a fact that my graphics card supports aero themes because its been fine up until i reinstalled windows last week. But al get my system specs etc up tomorrow. Cheers

Alrighty then Khen,

I can guide you through reintstalling windows "Perfectly" if you are interested. It may be far simpler and has a higher chance of successfully removing the problem, but you will have to save any data from your computer that you want to save.

Having the specs listed would greatly help. Let me know if you find a solution.
