[Windows 7] Theme will not save correctly

When I change any part of a theme in my Windows 7 x64 installation the changes WILL take effect, but the preview pane at the bottom of the personalization remains unchanged.

this means I cannot save a theme or share it.
can anyone help me with this, becuase not being able to keep a custom theme is quite irritating

Do Option 2 of this tutorial it will not harm any data or programs you have installed.

UNBELIEVABLE! Even THAT did not work. Looks like a clean install is the only option left

Make sure you backup your data first and make a list of the programs you have installed

Did you try patching your files first:

Universal Theme Patcher for Windows 7 - Universal theme patcher - Windows 7 Download

As you mentioned "custom" theme but I don't know if you meant custom by taskbar color/transparency or a third party one.

I came across your answer while problem solving a similar issue and your suggestion allowed the system checker to resolve issues I wasn't aware of.

    Thank you :)
