Installing 3rd party themes on Windows 7

I am wishing to install 3rd party themes on my Windows 7 x64 and am wondering if anyone has any views/comments on this both good and bad.

I understand that I will need to use 'Universal Theme Patcher' and that it will modify the following files... uxtheme.dll, themeui.dll, themeservice.dll

Of course I will need to make a backup of these files first so where do I locate them?

Could this cause issues in the future if I do this?

I've created themepacks and installed them with minimal problems. The only real issue is that my custom cursors don't stick and revert to the default Windows cursors when a reboot occurs.

You'll find them in C:\Windows\System32 and C:\Windows\SysWOW64 if you have 64 bit

Here are two tutorials on how to enable custom themes you only need to do 1 of these 2, the first one is a service that runs in the background and you do not need to patch any files, I am using it right now.
Enabling Custom Themes - Windows 7

If you need more help let me know.
