Windows 7 Taskbar / Toolbar - Colour Blending Issues

    Good Afternoon Everyone,

Another newbie to the forum (also a newbie to Windows 7) - I'm having some issues with my task bar / toolbar set up..

I've recently purchased myself a Samsung I7 Chronos laptop after having some bashed up Asus for the past 5 years and it has come with Windows 7 Home Premium. I had a heavily customized Windows XP but I really like the look of some of the Windows 7 Themes.

So after installing all my favorite software I began customizing the theme.

I downloaded a Black Theme by Morpheus from Deviant Art, a copy of Rainmeter with some additional skins and a token logo pack for the pinned taskbar.

It seems though that during the transition from shop spec to customizing it I've encountered a problem with the task bar:

    1. System Tray / Notification Area is Black (end of gradient aero theme)
    2. The pinned applications bar is brighter than the gradient behind it.
    3. CTI (left) indicates the start of a toolbar. As you can see blending is perfect up until pinned applications toolbar.

I've attached a picture below for your reference (hope it's clear enough):

    Image Shack Picture

Does anyone know how can I make the blending consistent across the taskbar without the use of third party software further customizing W7?

    Thanks for your time
    Jack

    Further Information

    Hi Again,

In fear of the previous picture not being sufficient to help with I've expanded the taskbar and taken another so you can see the colour issue more closely:

Please let me know if you have any thoughts?

    Hi Jerry,

Thanks for the reply, I got the theme from the following Deviant art page:

Dark Pearl VS 1.1 by ~MorpheusNS on deviantART

However earlier this afternoon I've been playing around with it and I seem to have somehow altered it with a consequence:

    - Added another Toolbar and expanded it the full width of the task bar
    - Increased the task bar to double the use height
    - Moving the new toolbar to the bottom

The above has fixed the blending issue however, If I can avoid It I dont really want a double sized taskbar but like the style as I have it.. Attached another photo below for your reference:

Double Task bar (at the top of the desktop) with 2 x Toolbar - 1 Underneath and 1 to center the icons

    Any ideas?

    Cheers

It's because you are using small icons setting on the taskbar properties you will need to use large icon setting or you will need a resource hacker and open up the Dark Pearl VS.msstyles in C:\Windows\Resources\Themes\Dark Pearl VS folder, in the image folder you need to replace the 2nd # image with the 1st # image in each position listed below, if you use just a bottom taskbar just do the bottom.

    bottom- 1166 to 1168

    top- 1167 to 1169

    left- 1170 to 1172

    right- 1171 to 1173

If you need more help let me know.

    Thank You!

    Hi Jerry,

It worked; switched to large icons and it looks magnificent!

The large icons actually look better too!

You are a star my friend. Thanks again!
