Windows 7 - Stuck on Classic theme, other themes not working

Now I really need help!
I burned the iso image to a blank DVD. Followed the repair install instructions and ran it while in windows and after trying two times, after it installs and the computer starts I see it show to little animation saying windows is starting, but it then goes black, completely black, like the monitor isn't on. I can hear the start up sounds and the caution sound when I click certain buttons, but the screen is off.

I tried plugging into the HDMI port of my TV to check if I can see anything, but that doesn't work either.

I didn't get a chance to backup anything, so I really need to fix this.

I don't know why you wouldn't copy out your files before trying a Repair Install as it is stated clearly in the tutorial this must be done.

Is there an option when you reboot to Roll Back the in-place Upgrade?

It's possible you have a bad burn on the DVD so download another ISO for your licensed version and burn another DVD or write to flash stick using the tool provided in tutorial.

If you are getting the BIOS screen at boot and nothing beyond that then boot into BIOS setup and reset to defaults. Save changes and reboot to see if Win7 starts. If not try booting the installer to run Startup Repair again a few times making sure Win7 or it's 100mb System Resrved partition is set to boot first. If this fails go ahead and copy out your files and try the Clean Reinstall.

If you can get into Safe Mode try uninstalling the Eraser crapware which ruined your OS. The idea that you'd have to wipe free space rather than just have it overwritten by new code is flim-flam. Only in rare cases does the boot sector need wiping when install hangs, using Diskpart Clean Command. The only other possible reason to wipe a HD is to make data unrecoverable by most means for privacy reasons.

I didn't create a system image as I thought that would copy over the corrupt files.

I looked this up online and I found out that the reason there was no display was because the display drivers were corrupted. I went into Safe Mode, deleted the drivers and rebooted. Everything seems to be working now luckily.

Some folks, including me, followed a performance tweak and were stuck with the Windows 7 toolbar being a white (Windows Classic). Altering the theme did not correct this. It turned out the Themes service was not automatic.

If you have this problem, where Desktop (right-click) "Personalize" "Windows Color" showing only as Windows Classic).

Run "services.msc", ensure the "Themes" service is Automatic (and Started).

Then you can then select any Windows Aero theme and it will provide the toolbar transparency again.
