Aero transparency fails. Windows 7 ultimate x64.

    Hi all,

Like many other's before me, i am facing a sudden issue with Windows Aero.

    Spec:

    Windows Ultimate x64.
    With current Updates on SP1.

    Running on
    Ati Radeon 5770 HD 1GB GDDR5 PCI-Ex Card.

    Over
    16GB Transcend DDR3
    Intel I7 2600K

I am not sure what triggered the event.
Last i did was install Zoo Tycoon Complete.
I am pretty sure, after that is when the desktop didnt restore to default pixel, i manually overran the graphic setting to restore to 1920*1080.

    Other than that nothing.

Do let me know if you need any other detail..
Without the transparency, it is a lil odd working on the machine.

    Welcome to the Seven Forums
You could try a system restore to a point before you installed Zoo Tycoon and see if that helps System Restore
    or
Click on start button in the search box type Aero and look for Find and fix problems with transparency and check for problems.

    Hi Bongo, Thanks for replying.

I tried the Aero Troubleshoot you have mentioned. It let me know that there was no problem.

I next used a Microsoft Fixit tool, which let me know that the Display card is not capable.

Its so weird that till this morning all was fine.

Zoo Tycoon, there was no Restore Point Created, The one before that was a week ago, still no different on applying it.

Do let me know, if anything else i can try.

I can't imagine that your graphics card is not capable it looks like a pretty good one to me. You could go to your manufacturers website and tried downloading and installing your graphic card drivers again.

You can also try to update your WEI Windows Experience Index - Update or Refresh Score

    Hi Bongo.

The WEI refreshed score is 7.3.
    The transparency is still gone.

I removed the drivers completely and downloaded new set of drivers.
Still the effect is the same.

    Hi Bongo.
Was checking all the display settings.

There was a change that needed to be done on the monitor profile.
It was under 1920X1080X16. By changing it to 1920X1080X32 got the Aero started.

    Thanks a lot...!!!

That's good to hear. I am assuming the X16 must've been 16 bit color.
