    Changing theme when program opens

Hey guys I have a quick question, I play videogames on my pc and get much better performance when I go to windows classic, but I like the look of windows aero for general computing. Is there any way I can make the computer change themes when a certain program is open, like battlefield 3, and switch back to normal when tho program closes?

What you might try is change the compatibility of the program executable

Right click the main executable file (exe)> Choose Properties> Compatibility tab> Check next to Disable visual themes and Disable desktop composition> Apply and OK your way out

See if this does what you want. A Guy

Alright, one more issue, before when I exited the program it would revert back to aero, now it doesn't. Could something be interfering with it?

I'm really not certain. I wondered if it would restore Aero when you closed it in the 1st place. When you reported it worked, I was pleased. You might try restarting Explorer after to see if that restores Aero. If so, you can add a context menu entry to simplify restarting Explorer.

That doesn't do the trick, its a good tool to have though.

    This thread

Windows 7 Aero Disabled - How can I enable it again? - Microsoft Answers

gives instructions on how to force enable aero. The only thing is I don't know if it will re-force enable it after the program closes.

EDIT: I just tried that and it worked fine, aero is now running again, I am going to play my game and see if it turns back on after it closes. Here is the window that comes up. Supposedly Windows 7 is supposed to restart aero, but it doesn't.

So it worked for the first few times but now it doesn't anymore, I am beyond frustrated with this. When i restart my computer the theme quickly changes back to aero enabled and then the computer shuts down. This leads me to believe that there is a program or process restricting the computer from reverting back to the default theme.

Can only offer you a Restart Aero shortcut in the desktop context menu via Kishan
