windows explorer, expanding folders automatically when you click on it

minor issue, but it bugs me alot and i am hoping someone has an answer....
i work alot in windows explorer and it used be that when you clicked on the folder in the left pane, it automatically expanded to show you the subfolders. In windows 7, you have to click on the triangle at the left of the folder to get it to expand. Is there any way to change this so that all i have to do is click on the folder?

from what i am seeing, what this does is when you double click on an item in the right pane, the left pane automatically opens up to that......not quite what i was looking for.
i want to click once in the left pane, anywhere on the folder, and have that folder (in the left pane still) expand. right now, you have to click exactly on the arrow to the left of the folder to get it to expand....just a pain in my opinion, i always like to know exactly where i am at in the "tree" of our file server at work, which means i like the whole thing expanded to where i am at.....including all the folders in any given folder on the way there, make sense?
