    Seven creating its own themes?

I just had a rather odd experience. My display suddenly quivered and blinked, and then I had a brand new theme. Instead of my normal theme (custom desktop, custom installed aero theme), I had a different desktop, and high contrast #1 theme on my screen!

In Personalization and Appearance, the new theme was listed as "unsaved theme" in the My Themes section.

I couldn't change it back to my normal appearance... had to reboot before I could reset to my usual theme.

    Anyone seen this quirk before?

I looked through event viewer for errors, but I didn't see any likely suspects. Any ideas where an error like this might be recorded? Its gotta be somewhere in event viewer... I just don't know where.

    Thanks.

I have had somewhat of a similar experience, but mine did not happen due to any quiver in the display....Infact it happens to me pretty much anytime after I start in safe mode, and then return to regular start up...It is not as drastic as changing desktops but it just changes my custom Aero color....In my custom theme I have my aero color set to clear, but it changes it to the default Bluish color and creates it's own them as unsaved theme....I however don't have any problems changing it back to my normal theme...

Sounds like 7 lost its aero and has gone into basic theme.

To get aero back open control panel. In the search bar type aero and then click on the Find and fix problems with transparency and other visual effects in the Troubleshooting section.

Thanks, guys. Its oddly comforting to know I'm not alone.

I just ran the troubleshooter, but it found nothing. I guess the reboot "fixed" whatever the problem was. If it happens again, I'll try the troubleshooter before I reboot... maybe that way I'll learn where the problem originated.

    Thanks again!

Sudden shutdown of Aero theme - with no user action to cause it? Check your vid card fan or cooling, check temps.

It changes background pictures and the colour of the taskbar randomly for me. Kinda cool.

Good advice... I'll check the temps.

OK, my video card is running 47 - 50 C... but fan speed is steady at 35%. That looks warmer than I'd like.

CPU is running 30 - 34 C. That's warmer than normal... its usually in the 25 - 30 C range. Looks like its time for a cleaning. Damn Cat (her given name, btw) has been sleeping on top of the case too much... time to find a new nap-spot for her.
