    Patched theme files resetting themselves?

So I've noticed that usually after a couple of weeks, my patched theme files seem to go back to normal. If I had a theme applied, it will reset to the classic Windows theme, and my logon screen will be changed back to the default.

Anyone have any idea why this would happen?

DId you run sfc /scannow? That will eliminate the patches, and sometimes you'll even see the customized themes/icons for a few days, and then they'll suddenly revert to default.

Nope. I haven't ran that in a couple of months, and definitely not since I did this clean install of 7.

I am guessing that the theme files and icon packs are still in your system, but the uxtheme patches are gone/inactive. Try to run the uxtheme patcher again, and see if it says the files are already patched, or if it says they are not patched yet.

That's what happened to me. A few weeks ago, my icons (Grim's great blue ones) converted back to the default manila color. I reran the uxtheme patcher, and they went back to blue.

I don't yet know why or how the original uxtheme files "fixed" themselves, but they did. (An MS update? A hidden file repair function? I dunno...).

Yeah, I went ahead and reran the theme patcher today, and it said that the files weren't patched. Could Windows 7 be self-healing? Will it soon cause my computer to become sentient, and kill me?

    Hmmm...

That would explain the strange, mouse-shaped bruises I wake up with in the mornings!
