    Basic Theme Visual ToolTip?

Well i just got windows 7 and as i figured it dose not like my graphics card (Nor did Windows Vista). This is becuase Intel is to lazy to make a WDDM driver for the 915 chipset (I have a Dell B130)

This is the start of my probelm do to the fact that the Windows 7 Basic theme is UGLY... So i went about and found the Deep Blue theme of it. That helped and now it looks nicer.

Next i downloaded "TrueTransparecy" to make my windows look tranparent. All is well... But sadly the little box that shows up when you hover the mouse over a program and then shows the programs name or tabs is very annoying... Its ugly and in the way. Can i turn that off? or is there a program that i can use like TrueTransparecy for windows 7 that will allow me to replace it with Windows Previews (Like Vista Transformation pack... And VisualToolTip)?

    Also... Im new!

Here is a picture of the thing im talking about i wish to change... (attached)

    Welcome to Seven Forums, Michael4500!

First, the driver problem, maybe we can get rid of the ugly basic theme. Are you using the drivers from Intel® 915 Express Chipset Family - Chipset information and downloads ? They may help.

Yes i have the drivers installed. My WEI is a 1.0 becuase of my grapics not supporting aero. Unless there is some sort of software i dont know about. But i have googled and googled looking for WDDM drivers for intel 915 and there appently is no such thing.

    Thanks for the fast reply!

OK, now let me look around here for a tutorial that might help with the problem of displaying the program names when you hover.

BRB (may take a minute, there are a LOT of tutorials here... :)

No joy if you cannot change the setting for "enable desktop composition" - it is off now, from your screenshot, and if it is turned on, you will get thumbnail pictures of the tabs.

Go to Control Panel > view by small icons > System > Advanced System Settings > Performance. "Enable desktop composition" is the fifth one down. See if you can check it.

As for Visual Tooltip, check out Chris'n'Soft » Visual Tooltip and see if that's what you're looking for.

I was able to duplicate what you see.

At the very bottom of the Performance settings is "Use visual styles on windows and buttons". See if that is checked. It probably isn't. See if you can check it.

They are all checked. My main goal is to get the gray box with the programs listed to go away. (the picture) and if possible replace i with window previews.

I'm out of ideas, Mitchell. It looks like the Intel problems are preventing you from seeing the pictures since you cannot run an Aero theme. Sorry.

BTW - What is your system's Windows Experience Index?

    One last gasp:

(Always back up your registry first, of course.)
