I would like to know if there is anyway to possibly place a non-standard sized start button. Windows 7 seems to be stubborn and only allow a 54x162 resolution picture. While the one I want to use is a 98x162 resolution picture. In the most basic form it is just the Windows XP Royale theme start button changed to blue. So far my attempts have just had a section of the image I wanted to use in the area of the original button along with that part being slightly transparent. I know for a fact that Windows Vista would adjust the start button area to suit the new button since that is where I first implemented this button. It just bugs me that Microsoft made the start button area fixed its not like you could easily change the size of the start button area in the past.
