Hi ebartolon,

You can try doing these by following the instructions at How to Change the Window Color and Appearance in Windows 7

Cheers

Unfortunately this doesn't work if Aero isn't enabled. All you'll get is the dialog to change the "Window Color and Appearance" options, but that's it.

To put it short, as far as I'm aware, there is no way (yet) to change the taskbar color of the Basic theme.

I'll correct myself. I found out where/how to do it. Not that difficult actually, but it needs the uxtheme patch to work.

I might post a little how-to tomorrow, if I've got time.
For the moment, some experiments: gradients, like the default style and solid black...

Please try this tutorial is on how to change system fonts, you can change the system colors as well. You might want to check my previous post here as well.

You can also modify visual setting shown in these turorials, How to Enable or Disable Changing Window Color and Appearance in Windows 7 and How to Change the Window Color and Appearance in Windows 7

Hope this helps

Well, unfortunately none of the above mentioned will help changing the Basic Taskbar, since that relies on images stored in aero.msstyles.

ebartolon, I think that's what you're looking for: custom Basic Toolbar
(btw. thx for inspiring me to figure this out. *hands some rep*)
