Can't get Back original Starter theme

I changed the settings to boost performance and save battery, so now my Windows 7 Starter net book has the grey blocky classic look. I can't figure out how to change it back!

I went System > System Properties > advanced [tab] > Settings [under performance] > visual effects and changed them all back to 'adjust for best appearance.' But I still have the blocky grey classic look. How do I get that sheek blue new computer smell back?

    Hi Adam7User,

I haven't used Starter so I'm not positive, but try right-clicking on the desktop and selecting 'Personalize' (if that option is there at all - I know Personalization is limited in Starter). That should take you to a screen where the Classic theme is selected. Scroll up to see the Aero themes. Let me know if that works for you.

    Cheers,

Windows 7 Starter has no 'personalize' options under control panel or on the desktop. All I know is that when I got the computer it had a much different look to it. I changed it to the classic view to save battery and resources, but I can't figure out how to change the look back to the default settings.

Do you have a restore point before those settings were changed? If yes, restore your PC to that particular date.

I don't know if these will help you, I don't have starter but this is something I found.

    Personalize your computer

    Change colors on your computer

None of this has helped. Does anyone who has used Windows 7 know what I am talking about?

I am currently viewing the blocky gray windows. Windows 7 starter can't use aero. But I can't figure out what it was using instead. The only info I can find is stuff about colors and backgrounds, but that is not what I want. I am talking about the look that xp usually has, rounded blue windows, etc., plus a couple of other looks similar to aero but not as advanced. Anyone know what I am talking about?

Sorry to hear that any of the methods posted earlier didn't workout for you.
Majority of users here are not familiar with Win 7 Starter,i think...

Anyway,i found a site that installs the Aero theme for Win 7.Am not sure whether it supports Starter edition as the creator of the theme did not state any compatible versions. But is surely for Win 7 users. You might want to have a look at the link below.

Please report back and inform us whether the method works for you.
    Thanks...:)

I went in to Services and 'themes' was turned off. So I enabled it and restarted the computer. I still had classic, but this time when I went to Control Panel (all) > Display > Color Scheme (for the umpteenth time) it included Basic as an option, whereas before it only allowed classic and high-contrast.

    Prob solv.
