I'm new in here, I registered because I was hoping someone here could help me with a problem that I just had crop up this morning. I have a HP laptop with Windows 7, and up until this morning I haven't had any problems that I couldn't fix with the help of Google.
So this morning I decided to look at what other themes are included with Windows 7. I changed themes a few times using the Change Your Theme thing, but I decided to go back to the one I had. My HP is an Artist Edition 2, with a special theme to go with its exterior design, but I don't think that's part of the problem, just thought I'd mention it. After I went back to the original setup, which I had saved before changing themes, I now have a problem with Live Messenger and Internet Explorer 8. Instead of the standard light blue background on Messenger, it's now white. In IE, websites all show up with white backgrounds. This is the same for bookmarked sites as it is for sites I've never been to before (I just checked www.offtopic.com
and I suspect it's not a white-background site). For example, Facebook does not display the blue bar across the top of the home page, the icons on the blue bar don't show up, and there are now lines separating each news feed. Other websites I use which are normally black background are now white, etc.
I've cleared Temporary Internet Files, and I did the Reset under Tools>Internet Options>Avanced tab. That's what was suggested on various websites for problems that might have been similar, but these didn't help me, and that's about the extent of my computer knowledge anyways. Of course that wouldn't help me with the Messenger side of the problem.
Has anybody experienced something similar? Does anybody have any suggestions for what I might be able to try to get me back to how I was before the happened? I'm not computer-savvy, but I don't mind uninstalling things and reinstalling them. Hopefully the solution will be simple.
Thanks in advance!
