Windows 7 - Internet Explorer 9 - Delete Download History

By default Internet Explorer 9 keeps a list of your download history. This will show you how to delete and clear the listed download history in IE9, but not the actual downloaded files.

1. Open Internet Explorer 9.

2. Click on the gear icon (tools) in the upper right corner, then click on View downloads. (see screenshot below)
NOTE: You could also press CTRL + J instead.

3. To Delete Specific Items in IE9 Download History

A) Select a listed downloaded item, and click on the X in the upper right corner of it. (see screenshot below)

4. To Delete All Items in IE9 Download History

A) Click on the Clear list button. (see screenshot below)

5. When finished, click on the Close button. (see screenshot below)

1. Open Internet Explorer 9.

2. Click on the gear icon in the upper right corner, then click on Internet Options. (see screenshot below)

3. Under Browsing history, click on the Delete button. (see screenshot below)

4. Check Download History, and click on the Delete button. (see screenshot below)

5. Click on OK. (see screenshot below step 3)

6. You will see this notice at the bottom of the IE9 window indicating that the download history has been deleted. You can click on the X at the far right to close the message. (see screenshot below)
