It works on my 32bit 7
But how about a undo option? coz I've a lot of large PSD files.
Worried about slower my explorer.
Thanks mate for the feedback

If you backed up the reg file previously, just run it to undo; or simply delete the keys. Second option is, not to enable thumbnail view.

I've just tried this on on my x64 7 with CS5 and I'm not getting any thumbnails generated.

Should I have cleared my thumbnail cache? Has anyone else gotten this going on x64 with CS5?

Thanks for the tut and great work!

@Arc: Is it working now?

@Demonseed: Welcome mate. Rebuild the cache and retry. Also, I forgot mention, I had to undo third patry theme patch to make it working.

Ahh, that could be it. I have my theme patched too. So I guess I'm stuck with a decision to make. To theme or not to theme.... that's the question.

Thanks for the info.

I couldn't get this to work on Windows 7 64-bit. I checked the entries in the registry and cleared the thumbnail cache, set image previews in PS to always save, opened and re-saved some PSD files, made sure the top layer in the PSD was a visible non-effects layer, rebooted, scratched my head, put psicon.dll in both adobe shell directories, rebooted, but still had the regular PSD-PS thumbnails.

Just to check that there wasn't something very wrong with my system I downloaded the trial version of Ardfry PSD codec and that worked just fine. It was such a treat to be able to see what was in all those long forgotten PSD files that it really increased my frustration at not being able to get the tweak described here to work!

Any more things I should try?

Thanks for reporting the problem and what you did in details.

Possibly, you have to write the values manually in registry. Anyhow, the keys are not getting updated by running the reg file properly.

In the meantime I will check if there is any possible trobleshoot, please check here after a week or so.

Run one of remove registry files according to your version [32 bit / 64 bit] (take backup of registry before).

Download it.
