Windows 7: Windows Explorer Toolbar Buttons - Customize

Ok mate. Here's the REG file below that will undo OPTION TWO and set the default registry settings back. After downloading, double click on it to merge it, and approve any prompts.

If you get any unsuccessful merge messages, then that is fine. It only means that you didn't change that one and it's permission settings, so it was not able to be merged. That's fine since it's still default anyways.

Hope this helps.

I'm sorry, but E-mail and Slide show are some of the default buttons that cannot be removed so far.

Adding a new value data to Registry

Hi Brink, thank you for your interesting topic, and I have an question related to your topic.
I like to add a new value data like Windows.burn,Windows.Copy,... but not exists in the Registry .
For example: I like to add a button in windows explorer toolbar, when it clikcked it show message box or do any action. I like to excute my binary code when the button clicked.

Hello Etosson, and welcome to Seven Forums.

For a custom button that's not already available in this tutorial, you could use the free program Classic Shell to create them.

Hope this helps,

options for removing default entries (slideshow etc)

re the above, I believe that, by changing the value of the canonical name of entries in

to "", the unwanted button(s) should disappear from ya command bar...

I just went to HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\CommandStore\shell\Windows.slideshow

and changed the value of CanonicalName from "{73BCE053-3BBC-4AD7-9FE7-7A7C212C98E6}" to ""

(You need to be the owner of the key. I recommend the free RegTakeOwnership tool).

I've done this (successfully!) with 'new folder', 'share', 'include in library'... but it didn't work with Slideshow. Another search of the reg for the canonicalname in question (73BCE053-3BBC-4AD7-9FE7-7A7C212C98E6)
yields just one result, @

HKLM\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\explorer\CommandStore\shell\Windows.slide show

After taking ownership and changing the CanonicalName to "", Slideshow is still in the command bar. (grrr)

More soon.

Hello Jonny,

Did you already see if using the program in Option One or Two would make it easier to remove the "Windows Slideshow" command bar button?

cmdStore woes

hey Brink!

I've recently recovered from another digital disaster!

My (VHD) OS is back from the brink!

Some apps being uninstalled, sadly Sandboxie got broken in the process, hopefully it'll reinstall ok...

My command bars were totally fudged, but thankfully I found the selectedItems and noSelectedItems entries for all offending... foldertypes..

I'm wondering if I've deleted some (commandbars!), and if there are any (generic) reg "backup/restore" operations I can do to resolve.

should controlpanel have a commandbar?

I just manually deleted dozens of child-keys (orphaned AHK entries) from HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FolderTypes\, but wonder if I killed any parents, like controlpanel and search... neither has a commandbar

Hello Jonny,

It looks like you have some 3rd party program installed that added the command bar/toolbar since Windows does not have one there by default.

Possibly Classic Shell??

Is it possible to add nav pane to the 'my computer' and 'libraries' command bar(s)?
