I continue to go through infinite repair loop. I restored system successfully to 1-28-13. Previous attempts to restore did not complete using a 1 week back restore point. Problem remains. There are no files shown. I have windows 7, 32 bit upgrade from Vista. I have a HP microtower, mdl dc5800. Do I need to reload Vista before loading windows 7? Is there any way to recover my files since it shows no files when I run your fix? I have tried to run various programs on the cd, but it will not start the fix programs.

Hey! For the first time I've experienced this startup issue on my laptop. I followed every step here but after restarting it, I was brought again to the startup repair page. In short nothing happened and now I fear that after performing this I might lose all my files. Why is that? I don't have any cd disk drives or dvd or whatever is that and I turned my system restore few months ago. Is there any way to open my laptop and get my files? I feel so desperate now. Help pls.

I did the dell data safe emergency recovery option, with no disk. Now I have the problem of the infinite loop. I followed this guide until the step to check how many bytes in each folder. I have 0 bytes all 5 folder which are DEFAULT through SYSTEM. Please help me. I don't want to give up on this computer.

Hello Jadi, and welcome to Seven Forums.

Are you booting from your retail installation DVD/USB or system repair disc?

Thanks for your reply, I believe I am not although I'm running from my original HD that has windows installed ... If it helps I was being kind of stupid with it and pressed the reset button AKA the button above the power button on the front panel multiple times... After I got frustrated about something.

FIXED

Well, I had this problem with my computer and I thought my computer was never going to be fixed. I came to this sight seeking for help and I got none, well anyways they way I fixed my computer was by calling Dell and asking for a DVD that was for reinstalling Windows. Pretty much I made a new reinstall of windows 7 home premium. I selected the CD/DVD boot option by pressing F12. If the CD/DVD option seems not to work turn off the computer and try it again, it didn't work for me the first time. My computer had 0 bytes also. Well help this helps someone.

Good day, everyone!
I have one question.
I had created a Registry Backup by using Regedit > Export.
Now my computer have this infinite loop error.
How can I use the backup that I created earlier to fix the corrupted registry?
Because one of the files in my RegBack folder is 0 bytes.
Thanks in advance!
